Cedar on Collins is an aged care residential project nestled in the heart of Kiama, just 100 meters from the ocean. In collaboration with Fresh Hope, Orwell helped bring this 5,500m2 coastal village to life. Comprised of 5 separate buildings, the development offers 56 meticulously designed 1, 2, and 3-bedroom apartments featuring contemporary layouts, luxurious finishes, and abundant natural light. The architects, Kennedy Associates Architects, are an award winning architectural and urban design practice who turned an empty slopping paddock into a contemporary living Retirement Village.

At Orwell, our team thrives when tackling complex projects, and this project is a perfect example of that. The project faced numerous challenges, including redesign of the structure due to latent conditions in the foundations, COVID lockdown’s preventing contractors travelling from Sydney, over 4 months of inclement weather and multiple shortages of material and labour. Despite these obstacles, the project was successfully completed with residents moving in, in late 2023.
